Reflections of Creation

One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.

Today I started something new-compressing pictures. I have avoided this until now so that the pictures would look their best. The trade off was the download times were longer, and so I am now compressing them so this page will load quicker. The quality of the pictures will probably not seem less to most of you, but if you consistently notice compression artifacts, let me know and I will adjust the compression amount. Thanks!

I don't care... Thursday, September 18, 2008 | 0

...if this picture is almost identical to the one on July 14th; I'm going to post it anyways. Hopefully, I'll be able to find some pretty good fall colors in darkish kind of areas like this and I will be able to play with some more of the painting with light concept with fall colored trees.

post #250 Wednesday, September 17, 2008 | 4

Since you guys seem to like the flower fandango pictures, I thought I'd post another one. This will probably be the last with these flowers (maybe one more post). And since today makes the 250th post, I thought I'd include something different: a picture of me taking the picture you see here. Weird huh?

a flower fandangito Monday, September 15, 2008 | 13

I'm posting this a little early since I didn't put anything up for Sunday. This was taken at the same time as the "flower fandango" pictures, but has fewer flowers. I guess it takes more flowers to be considered a full fledged fandango.

masks - day one Tuesday, September 09, 2008 | 2

Today is the beginning of four days of masks from the Museum of Northern British Columbia in Prince Rupert. Out of the four masks, this one may just be my favorite. I love the beak like quality of this one, and the colors on this one really appeals to me.

Using Alison's camera feels weird.

I looked at the blog to make sure this picture posted right, and it made me realize that the last four days of pictures were all taken on the same day (first day with the digital camera last February). I guess I should go out and take some new pictures, eh?

america Friday, September 05, 2008 | 1

With the conventions being the last couple of weeks, America has really been on my mind. I love this country, and I also love the fact that local scout troops have decorated our dumpsters along the river in a patriotic manner.

Here's a picture from outside of Warwick Castle in England. I can't wait for cooler weather and to see the aspens changing colors.

a brighter flower fandango Monday, September 01, 2008 | 3

This is a brighter picture taken the same time I took the picture posted on August 11th. I'm kinda curious which one people like better. Both of these were taken at f1.8, but drastically different exposure times. This brighter one had an exposure of 1/640th of a second while the darker one on August 11th had an exposure of 1/4000th of a second (the fastest my camera will go).

I'm sure there is a great spiritual reference to the amount of time we spend in the light, but I'll let you think of it on your own. :-)

Reflections of Creation

the most important part of this website

I enjoy photography and I always find myself wanting more time to be outside with a camera. The idea of posting my pictures was born out of the love for my wife, Alison (alisonbryantwrites.com), who hates it when I do not take my days off. This website, reflections of creation, is a way to force me to get out of the office from time to time and putting me outside where I love to be. While a creative outlet for me, I hope this is an encouraging site for you, and one which helps point you to the Creator of all this beauty around us. God is so much bigger and amazing than we could ever imagine, and He loves you and me! What an amazing thought! He loves us so much that He was even willing to let His son, Jesus, die as a sacrifice for us. That fact is more beautiful than any picture you will see on this website. I hope you know Jesus, but if you do not, please email me or go to www.needHim.org. Thanks again for coming and stop by again soon.
