Reflections of Creation

One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.

I don't really like this picture, but I am posting it because I like how you can see a couple of the domes from McDonald Observatory sticking up from the hills on the right. If you ever have a chance to go to one of their star parties, YOU NEED TO GO!

This makes me want to go back to Alaska since this one and the one from last week were taken in Ketchikan.

To me, this looks like a river of trees running down the mountain.

partly cloudy with a chance of some moonlight... Tuesday, June 09, 2009 | 6

It has a grainy texture from the high iso, and while I am not happy about that, I guess I shouldn't be too upset since I the camera was set on an iso of 1600 - the highest I can get on my rebel xt.

a picture for a very special day Thursday, June 04, 2009 | 5

Happy Birthday, Mom!

This picture is from the Glorieta prayer gardens where you spent several of your birthdays sponsoring youth camp. You were always willing to do whatever it took to tell teenagers about Jesus, even if it meant you had to go to camp and spend your birthday around a few hundred junior highers who only shower when they are forced.

So, this picture is for you, mom, because to this day, I still think of your birthday when I am in the prayer gardens (and Dan making out with Jenny there instead of going to your surprise party).

:-)

mount livermore Wednesday, June 03, 2009 | 2

This is one of my new favorite mountains. This is Mount Livermore in Texas that is over 8300 feet in altitude. The cool part is, this rises almost half a mile up from the landscape around it (and where I took this picture). A picture just cannot capture how large this looks when you're standing down below the mountain like Alison and I were, but you can see some black specks about the peaks. Those are buzzards flying around.

This is a six second exposure, so you can tell the dog was moving her head for part of the shot. This is how I wanted the picture to come out.

This is a six to seven minute long exposure. I wish it had been a calm night so the trees wouldn't be blurred, but the wind had different ideas for me.

Reflections of Creation

the most important part of this website

I enjoy photography and I always find myself wanting more time to be outside with a camera. The idea of posting my pictures was born out of the love for my wife, Alison (alisonbryantwrites.com), who hates it when I do not take my days off. This website, reflections of creation, is a way to force me to get out of the office from time to time and putting me outside where I love to be. While a creative outlet for me, I hope this is an encouraging site for you, and one which helps point you to the Creator of all this beauty around us. God is so much bigger and amazing than we could ever imagine, and He loves you and me! What an amazing thought! He loves us so much that He was even willing to let His son, Jesus, die as a sacrifice for us. That fact is more beautiful than any picture you will see on this website. I hope you know Jesus, but if you do not, please email me or go to www.needHim.org. Thanks again for coming and stop by again soon.
