Reflections of Creation

One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.

Warning: rambly blog post ahead.

A few months ago, I started following the story of a teenage girl named Carissa Fluke. She missed the last few days of school when she was a freshman, and they then found a rare form of leukemia which has evidently been very hard to treat. She went through intense treatments at locations around the country. Carissa is a Christian, and someone who loves God more than life itself and used this as an opportunity to show the world how much Jesus means to her. Throughout the whole ordeal, Carissa never lost her faith and continued to point people to Jesus. I would get updates on an email list, and I would find myself inspired by her every few days when the emails would arrive.

Yesterday, Carissa lost her short battle with the leukemia (I'm sure it felt like an eternity to her and her family). Yet, this young lady is now the most incredible place in the world -- with Jesus Christ whom she loves so much. I hope all of you reading this know Jesus and have a relationship with Him. If you don't please send me a message anytime, and I would be glad to talk to you about it.

And Carissa, I wish I could see what you're seeing right now, girl. We love you!

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
Your justice like the ocean depths.

Mike, Move to Monahans Tuesday, November 11, 2008 | 0

Way back in February of this year, I witnessed the statement, "If God wanted me to move to Monahans, He would have to tell me that in giant neon letters." So, with a suggestion from Will and 3 or 4 "painting with light" pictures merged together, we helped God get His message delivered to Mike.

I'm sorry that I haven't been around much lately. I had a huge youth event two weeks ago, and I'm just finally getting recovered from that. That's not really why I haven't been around though: I just don't have any pictures right now that I like. I have desperately needed to go out and take pictures and I haven't done it. I'm kind of upset with myself too, because I love fall. Fall is my favorite time of the year, and I could not wait to go out and take pictures this fall for three reasons:

1) This is my first year with a good digital camera.
2) This is my first year to have a motorcycle which I planned on riding around with some camera gear and get a bunch of pictures.
2) I thought it would be a great way to unwind after the craziness of two weekends ago.

Well, I never went out, and now it is really too late for the great color around here. We had high winds which took out a bunch of our leaves this week. I actually saw piles of leaves in a couple of yards today, so I am too late to really get what I wanted this year. Maybe next year.

So, here's what I need: to get out and take some more pictures. This blog was intended to be nature photography, since that's what I love to do. Now that I have a digital camera and don't have to pay for developing, I tend to take a lot more pictures about, well, anything. So, I have gotten away from nature photography. And since I don't have many pictures I want to put up, you get more World War II planes (insert my nephew's cheering here). I'll have another picture of this plane up for Monday's picture as well.

Reflections of Creation

the most important part of this website

I enjoy photography and I always find myself wanting more time to be outside with a camera. The idea of posting my pictures was born out of the love for my wife, Alison (alisonbryantwrites.com), who hates it when I do not take my days off. This website, reflections of creation, is a way to force me to get out of the office from time to time and putting me outside where I love to be. While a creative outlet for me, I hope this is an encouraging site for you, and one which helps point you to the Creator of all this beauty around us. God is so much bigger and amazing than we could ever imagine, and He loves you and me! What an amazing thought! He loves us so much that He was even willing to let His son, Jesus, die as a sacrifice for us. That fact is more beautiful than any picture you will see on this website. I hope you know Jesus, but if you do not, please email me or go to www.needHim.org. Thanks again for coming and stop by again soon.
