Reflections of Creation

One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.

99 and unhappy Saturday, April 30, 2011 | 0

We hit 99 degrees today. Yep, I agree. But, we are supposed to be 30-35 degrees cooler in a couple of days. So, I've been thinking about cooler weather and how much I love fall.

sorry, but maybe antelope canyon will help Friday, April 29, 2011 | 1

Okay, I'm sorry that I've been gone for....ummm .... a while (I was about to run out of fingers counting). I have no reason, just an excuse: I've been really tired lately. The funny thing is, when I signed on blog tonight, I saw my last post was my 666th post. Ha! Well since people love Antelope Canyon pictures, here's one to help make up for the long absence.

Okay, I'm not trying to whine, but share how excited I was about something with this shot. I was having problems on vacation with my camera setup; for some reason it would not focus automatically. Antelope Canyon can get a little dark, and I had to focus everything manually (I haven't used the camera since vacation and so I haven't tested if it was the lens or the camera). I was using a 17-85mm zoom, so I would zoom in and focus and then zoom out and take the picture. In almost every picture, the focus was great. For this one, I was trying to get the ridge on the upper left of the picture, and it is really in focus. That makes me happy.

This was my favorite thing to see at all of the Grand Canyon. This is at the watchtower on the eastern side of the park.

I just watched the Weather Channel's new show - From the Edge with Peter Lik, and tonight was the episode where he was taking pictures of slot canyons in northern Arizona and southern Utah. I missed the segment taken in Lower Antelope Canyon, but it comes on again at midnight my time, so I'll be able to watch and/or record it. So, it inspired me to post one from Lower Antelope.

Job 37:5-14
God’s voice is glorious in the thunder.
We can’t even imagine the greatness of his power.
“He directs the snow to fall on the earth
and tells the rain to pour down.
Then everyone stops working
so they can watch his power.
The wild animals take cover
and stay inside their dens.
The stormy wind comes from its chamber,
and the driving winds bring the cold.
God’s breath sends the ice,
freezing wide expanses of water.
He loads the clouds with moisture,
and they flash with his lightning.
The clouds churn about at his direction.
They do whatever he commands throughout the earth.
He makes these things happen either to punish people
or to show his unfailing love.
“Pay attention to this, Job.
Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God!

To go along with Alison's great writeup about this place, I decided to post an Antelope Canyon picture today.

Reflections of Creation

the most important part of this website

I enjoy photography and I always find myself wanting more time to be outside with a camera. The idea of posting my pictures was born out of the love for my wife, Alison (alisonbryantwrites.com), who hates it when I do not take my days off. This website, reflections of creation, is a way to force me to get out of the office from time to time and putting me outside where I love to be. While a creative outlet for me, I hope this is an encouraging site for you, and one which helps point you to the Creator of all this beauty around us. God is so much bigger and amazing than we could ever imagine, and He loves you and me! What an amazing thought! He loves us so much that He was even willing to let His son, Jesus, die as a sacrifice for us. That fact is more beautiful than any picture you will see on this website. I hope you know Jesus, but if you do not, please email me or go to www.needHim.org. Thanks again for coming and stop by again soon.
