Reflections of Creation

One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.

This obelisk (found in Central Park) dates from around 1,800 B.C. As you can tell, I did some playing with it. I used the "Holga" script you can find here, and I made the holga layer half transparent with the original underneath. The Holga was a toy camera that came out in the early 80s which produced wildly unreliable pictures with tons of problems - light streaks, blurs, massive vignetting, etc. It has produced some surreal and, I think, amazing shots. One of these days, I'm going to buy one just for play (and a zorki 4k, and an Epson R-D1, and a....)

peaceful woods Saturday, January 02, 2010 | 1

I love being outside, and this blog started as a way to show amazing reminders of God I see in everyday life - particularly in nature photography. I've kind of strayed away from that formula a little over the last 2 years that I've had this blog, but this picture is a vivid reminder to me of why I started it in the first place.

This picture was taken up along the eastern Canadian coast about 3 months ago. I actually had to push my way through some trees to get to this little spot, and it was well worth it. In the midst of a beautiful forest, this was like a little hidden calm spot. I have some friends going through some tough times right now, and I hope that they find some time to spend with God and just get away and enjoy the peacefulness found only in God - a peacefulness that I'm reminded of when I see this picture.

Of course getting 5 pounds of coffee grounds plus $60 in Starbucks gift cards for Christmas will help Alison and myself with one part of that.

Reflections of Creation

the most important part of this website

I enjoy photography and I always find myself wanting more time to be outside with a camera. The idea of posting my pictures was born out of the love for my wife, Alison (alisonbryantwrites.com), who hates it when I do not take my days off. This website, reflections of creation, is a way to force me to get out of the office from time to time and putting me outside where I love to be. While a creative outlet for me, I hope this is an encouraging site for you, and one which helps point you to the Creator of all this beauty around us. God is so much bigger and amazing than we could ever imagine, and He loves you and me! What an amazing thought! He loves us so much that He was even willing to let His son, Jesus, die as a sacrifice for us. That fact is more beautiful than any picture you will see on this website. I hope you know Jesus, but if you do not, please email me or go to www.needHim.org. Thanks again for coming and stop by again soon.
