Cleopatra's Needle Monday, January 04, 2010 | 0
This obelisk (found in Central Park) dates from around 1,800 B.C. As you can tell, I did some playing with it. I used the "Holga" script you can find here, and I made the holga layer half transparent with the original underneath. The Holga was a toy camera that came out in the early 80s which produced wildly unreliable pictures with tons of problems - light streaks, blurs, massive vignetting, etc. It has produced some surreal and, I think, amazing shots. peaceful woods Saturday, January 02, 2010 | 1
I love being outside, and this blog started as a way to show amazing reminders of God I see in everyday life - particularly in nature photography. I've kind of strayed away from that formula a little over the last 2 years that I've had this blog, but this picture is a vivid reminder to me of why I started it in the first place.
This picture was taken up along the eastern Canadian coast about 3 months ago. I actually had to push my way through some trees to get to this little spot, and it was well worth it. In the midst of a beautiful forest, this was like a little hidden calm spot. I have some friends going through some tough times right now, and I hope that they find some time to spend with God and just get away and enjoy the peacefulness found only in God - a peacefulness that I'm reminded of when I see this picture.

time for a productive (and coffee filled) 2010 Friday, January 01, 2010 | 1
Of course getting 5 pounds of coffee grounds plus $60 in Starbucks gift cards for Christmas will help Alison and myself with one part of that.
