Reflections of Creation

One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.

Olympic lights Monday, February 22, 2010 | 1

These pictures are from a neat light display up at the Olympics. There are 20 lights around English Bay in Vancouver which change into positions that people have submitted. You can find out more and submit your own design at http://vectorialvancouver.net/home.html. It's a neat thing you can see from all over Vancouver. These are long exposures in order to capture the light moving (you especially see this in the second picture).

back from Vancouver Saturday, February 20, 2010 | 1

Well, we made it back from Vancouver where we had an amazing time. Once I get some time, I'll tell you all about the trip, but give me a few days to get caught up with life here. Here's a disappointing confession: I took very few pictures. And, most of the pictures I took were not for me. So, you'll get some Olympic pictures, but not as many as I'd like. Now, let me tell you about this picture.

This is an Olympic torch.

Yes, an authentic Olympic torch.

I saw quite a few of these while in stores, Olympic venues, street party locations, etc. In several of these places, people were allowed to touch them and take pictures of them. But, every single one of those I saw were unused. This is one of the used Olympic torches which ran across Canada and were cheered by thousands and thousands. This particular torch was used in West Kelowna on January 25th. And yes, that is my wife running with it as well. It was an amazing experience getting to see and touch one of the torches.

floating along the rainy Alaskan coast Friday, February 05, 2010 | 2

We were just north of Ketchikan when I took this picture. I remember how unusual the light was and how dark the ocean looked in comparison with the sky. To take this picture, I used the light meter and focus on the bright clouds on the left hand side which darkened everything else (prob a little too much). My favorite part of the landscape that moment was seeing the rain shower in the right hand side of the picture and I wish it would have been coming down a little heavier so it would show up better in the picture. Oh well, I still like this shot.

Get out there Wednesday, February 03, 2010 | 1

I need to get out there taking more pictures, and so I want to post a picture reminding me to get out there and do more photography.

Today's picture was taken last weekend with my new little toy - the keychain camera that takes such bad shots that they're good. I love this little thing. Every shot is a new adventure when 1) you have no idea what you are taking a picture of since the viewfinder is worthless, 2) the saturation will probably be waaayyyyy out of whack, and 3) the lens will probably massively vignette. In spite of all that (or should I say "because of all that"), this little camera and its pictures have their own charm, and I am really enjoying this tiny camera (all 40 shots I've taken). I'll post another picture from this camera tomorrow, and then I'll get back to some nature pics.

anticipation Tuesday, February 02, 2010 | 2

If you've been here in the last few days, you knew that I was having a problem with where my pictures were hosted. That is now fixed and my picture hosting is back up and running. So, I figured I needed to blog and take advantage of this poor starving dog.

Reflections of Creation

the most important part of this website

I enjoy photography and I always find myself wanting more time to be outside with a camera. The idea of posting my pictures was born out of the love for my wife, Alison (alisonbryantwrites.com), who hates it when I do not take my days off. This website, reflections of creation, is a way to force me to get out of the office from time to time and putting me outside where I love to be. While a creative outlet for me, I hope this is an encouraging site for you, and one which helps point you to the Creator of all this beauty around us. God is so much bigger and amazing than we could ever imagine, and He loves you and me! What an amazing thought! He loves us so much that He was even willing to let His son, Jesus, die as a sacrifice for us. That fact is more beautiful than any picture you will see on this website. I hope you know Jesus, but if you do not, please email me or go to www.needHim.org. Thanks again for coming and stop by again soon.
