Reflections of Creation

One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.

Tonight I played with a camera with a 30 second exposure time versus the maximum of 4 seconds that I've had with our digital camera. The longer exposure time gave me a chance to try out some more drawing with light. I also did some stick figures as well, and the sad part is they probably look better than the ones I draw on paper with the lights on. Often, I wish God had blessed me with the ability to draw and paint, but He didn't.

I probably should have saved this picture for a seperate post, but I wanted to go ahead and put both of these up today. I hope you know that this second picture is absolutly true. If you don't know Jesus, fire me off an email (check my profile in the "pull" part above). I'd love to talk with ya!

When are you going to submit photos of the really cool planetary alignment that's happening in the hours just before the sun comes up?

Love both of those pictures. Who knew that just the right light could make a trash can look cool?

...And I'm glad you went ahead and posted the second photo, with Valentine's coming up. Very appropriate.

awwwww Alison, why'd you have to go and girlie up my picture by talkong about valentine's day? ;-)

Will, you mean the sun actually sets and rises? Sometime, I'll have to see that one; youth ministers don't usually wake up before 9:30!

Will, you also might want to know that for these drawing with light pictures, I raid Alison's purse. I need a certain pen from a jewelry store in the mall to have that red laser pointer and blue light.

I'm amazed that you have the skill to write with a wand. Harry Potter would be proud. Did you find any of Alison's cigars while digging through her purse?

Come live with me for a while, Dave. I can easily show you what a sunrise looks like since it's rare that I miss one! :D

Part of our problem here is that we live on the eastern edge of the mountain time zone. The sun rises way too early here to be motivated enough to go take pictures. I usually wake up around that time, but I'm just not ready to get out of the house yet. Over Christmas in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I was surprised at how late the sun rose. I guess I've had close to five years of living here and had forgotten what it was like in the old stomping grounds.

HOw many times did you write that before you got it right?

Well, I pulled out the camera and went through the pictures. I took 9 pictures writing "Jesus loves you." Two of them were written in cursive and look so bad you can't hardly read them. Out of the other seven, 3 have hearts and this one was number 8 out of the 9 total shots. A couple of the plain "Jesus loves you" looks alright though. I didn't think of adding the heart until half way through. I know I deleted one shot where I wrote out of the picture frame, but I don't remember any others I deleted. It was probably between 12 to 15 total shots.

These pictures (plus some stick figure shots) were how I occupied my time between Psych (the best show on tv) and Stargate.

I,too enjoy the antics of the Santa Barbara sleuths. However, I don't know what kind of premonition you've had, because Atlantis trumps Pysch--on any galaxy.

the most important part of this website

I enjoy photography and I always find myself wanting more time to be outside with a camera. The idea of posting my pictures was born out of the love for my wife, Alison (alisonbryantwrites.com), who hates it when I do not take my days off. This website, reflections of creation, is a way to force me to get out of the office from time to time and putting me outside where I love to be. While a creative outlet for me, I hope this is an encouraging site for you, and one which helps point you to the Creator of all this beauty around us. God is so much bigger and amazing than we could ever imagine, and He loves you and me! What an amazing thought! He loves us so much that He was even willing to let His son, Jesus, die as a sacrifice for us. That fact is more beautiful than any picture you will see on this website. I hope you know Jesus, but if you do not, please email me or go to www.needHim.org. Thanks again for coming and stop by again soon.
