See below for a description of how this is done and a few more pictures.
First off, let me say that I'm sorry I haven't blogged much in the past week. It hasn't been because I didn't want to. I usually blog about 10 at night and then date it for midnight. But almost every night this last week, I fell asleep while getting ready to blog. So, I'm sorry, but I'll give you a bunch of pictures tonight to make up for it.
Alright, now here's the fun stuff; the picture above is a picture of my Christmas tree. I heard about taking pictures this way, and I tried it out tonight on our tree (white lights) and on one at the church (the colored lights). Here's how it works. Take a camera with a manual setting or else put it on a setting where your shutter speed will be about a half second to a second. As the picture takes, just toss your camera in the air. By tossing it in different ways, you can get very different pictures. My favorite toss was the double wounded duck backflip. It made some very interesting patterns.
have fun throwing your camera around!

These are quite amazing!
Oh my! Still not sure what you did, but the colors/patterns are great!
Okay, think of it like flipping a pancake. When the camera takes the picture, toss the camera up so that it flips around in the air. Does that make sense?
I wouldn't do it with a good camera.
i love it!!! :) so much fun!!
