For the past hour, I've been listening to the new Jason Gray album that came out today (Everything Sad is Coming Untrue). The album is really good and one of the songs, Fade With Our Voices, stuck out to me. This song made me think of this picture taken by a young 18 year old Dave when I was in Kenya (you can read the lyrics below). I can still see the faces of some of those who live in these houses after all of these years. I hope that your worship is lived out in tangible ways to those in need. If nothing else, please pray and read the Compassion blog you can find linked over the right hand side of the front page of this blog. And please, sponsor a child; it's time for Christians to stop letting their worship fade with their voices.
After all the songs are sung
And our prayers for Kingdom come
Did we bring honor to the words we sing?
Chorus:
Does our worship have hands?
Does it have feet?
Does it stand up in the face of injustice?
Does our worship bow down?
Does it run deep?
Is it more than a song
That fades with our voices?
Does it fade with our voices?
Lord it's you we long to please
Make our lives a melody
That we proclaim when we live in Jesus name
Repeat chorus
So if we raise our hands high
Let us also reach them out
And if we lift our voices up
Let it be the sound of love
Let our worship have hands
Let it have feet
Let it stand tall
In the face of injustice
Let our worship bow down
Let it run deep
And be more than a song
That fades with our voices
...It's more than a song that fades with our voices
It won't fade with our voices(Let it be the sound of love...)
fade with our voices

Awesome post today. I'll be thinking about this a lot.
I liked the lyrics of the song so much I had to go download the album from walmart.com! Yes my brother! That is true worship. Worship must be more than a song on our lips it must be displayed in our everyday life!
Thank you for sharing this. It resonates with my soul.
Glenn, I'm glad you liked the album. You really should check out his live one, Acoustic Storytime. It's just him and his acoustic guitar and it's amazing. He's funny and hearing him talk for a big portion of the album is just as good as hearing him sing. He talks about struggles with stuttering and being a musician, sings an amazing song about his love affair with the grace of God, and even sings the first love song he ever wrote, If I Were a Dog (funny and awesome love song).
Acoustic Storytime is a can't miss album if you liked this other one.
