One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.
I have yet to understand why I am drawn to gothic, twisted, dark, and ominous places. Somehow, I must find them tempting. Perhaps its my desire to flirt with the dark side. Whenever I see a forest of dark, twisted trees, I immediately feel a tug in my heart to explore every inch of the forest. It's a mystery.
Oh- about your picture- I find the photo to be a little busy, but have I mentioned that I like dark, twisted trees? Somehow you manage to find those trees, but will you please stop cheering up the photos with pretty flowers? Sigh, I must be identifying with Gomez Adams in my old age...
I like the flowers. Very, very nice!
Was this at FW Nature Center? (Yes, I know I can ask him here at home--and I will--but for the sake of blog discussion...)
This was taken in Glorieta.
Here's the truth about this picture: I don't care for it. I think you nailed it Travis: way too busy. There is too much sunlight so the whole thing is bright. There's no place for your eye to rest and no place that draws your eye. (the larger one one is better than the thumbnail, so click it to see the larger one).
So, why did I post it? I wanted to see what other people thought of it. I didn't like thursday's picture of Kenilworth either, but several people did. And I thought everyone would love yesterday's relay for life pictures, but I'm not sure people did. So, I wasn't sure if someone would like today's even if I didn't.
That's always the tricky part about your own work. There are a lot of stories I write that people hate. There are also stories that I hate, but everyone likes. It's hard being green. (Kermit the Frog) But, I'm not too worried about you. You know you have talent and you know how to use it. Trial and error are always a good way to bring reality back to our lives.
This is a picture I do like -- the pretty flowers in the twisted branches show a bright spot in a crazy world.
