Reflections of Creation

One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.

It was cold, and this is how we looked (taken with the camera remote-a handy little tool).

Here is another Mendenhall Glacier shot. I loved being there in early May when the lake was still partly frozen over (although the reflection in the water is what makes this picture). You can always check out the webcam from the visitor center to see what it looks like currently.

This is a picture of the Prior's Door found in Ely Cathedral which was carved around the year 1135. If you're ever in England and get a chance to visit Ely, you should go.

falling wall...building clouds Saturday, August 16, 2008 | 2

It's a little early, but here's Saturday's picture. Some of these clouds look fake to me.

I love Proverbs 27:17 which says, as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. I hope we all will realize that we have the capacity to build each other up or tear each other down. I hope I am always the encouraging one who is sharpening others.

I'm sorry I haven't been around that much in the last few days. I'll try to do better about getting a daily update.

God has created so many beautiful things (just see Alison for proof - look she's turning red now). Sometimes a simple flower with dangling petals shows His glory in a way that words can't.

outside of encino, nm Sunday, August 10, 2008 | 1

I have been up in the mountains for three days, and I didn't take a single picture until we were leaving. I know, I know, bad Dave.

I'm sorry for missing the last couple of days, but I didn't figure you guys would mind too bad. Today's picture is the remains of an old farm outside of Encino. Encino is a fascinating place that someday I will stop and take a couple of hundred pictures of. There are so many amazing photo ops in this town.

In all honesty, I don't like this shot, but it relaxes me to see it. This picture was taken on April 27th, right when I really needed a vacation.

I had only had two days off over the two months before this vacation, and I needed the rest.

I had lost one of my two major hobbies when it changed from hobby to job (which was guitar playing-I hardly play guitar anymore, because it feels like work and gets me thinking about it).

I was cantankerous and losing patience easily.

And when I see this picture, my shoulders relax, my mind goes fuzzy, and I catch myself sighing because this picture brings back all of those feelings from April 27th when our cruise ship was pulling out. Thank you, God, for a wonderful vacation. I think I could use another one now :-)

(it's hard to believe this was only three and a half months ago)

Reflections of Creation

the most important part of this website

I enjoy photography and I always find myself wanting more time to be outside with a camera. The idea of posting my pictures was born out of the love for my wife, Alison (alisonbryantwrites.com), who hates it when I do not take my days off. This website, reflections of creation, is a way to force me to get out of the office from time to time and putting me outside where I love to be. While a creative outlet for me, I hope this is an encouraging site for you, and one which helps point you to the Creator of all this beauty around us. God is so much bigger and amazing than we could ever imagine, and He loves you and me! What an amazing thought! He loves us so much that He was even willing to let His son, Jesus, die as a sacrifice for us. That fact is more beautiful than any picture you will see on this website. I hope you know Jesus, but if you do not, please email me or go to www.needHim.org. Thanks again for coming and stop by again soon.
