Reflections of Creation

One of the greatest things that God has given humans is the ability to see beauty in the world around us. I have never noticed my dog stop and stare at the beauty of a forest or the incredible colors of a sunset, but these things have the ability to stop me in my tracks in wonder and awe. This website is my attempt to capture some of the beauty and glory of an indescribable God by capturing reflections of Him that I see in His creation.

Run! The "Noodles of Death" are coming! Friday, June 27, 2008 | 4

This morning, I was able catch the famous "noodles of death" about to attack this sweet kid at Vacation Bible School.

I am happy to report that the kid is fine, and relatively unharmed.

I'd like to be there today; these temperatures over 100 are really wearing me out this year. Anyone want to move to Alaska with me?

Over the next three days, I am going to show pictures from a 15 minute period. I could easily lengthen this to two weeks and not get board with the pictures taken during that fifteen minute period. These pictures will have similar landscape, but I think each picture has it's own unique feel to it.

tonight's sunset Sunday, June 08, 2008 | 2

I really had a lot to say to you tonight, because I have a lot on my mind (there is a good chance that my job is going to drastically change tomorrow). God then gave us this amazing sunset tonight, and I just couldn't seem to capture it in a meaningful way. Just so you know, this top picture was facing east while the bottom picture was facing northwest.

If you want a better perspective on this sunset, click here and read Alison's blog.

Here is another shot from inside the old hospital at Fort Davis. This was a dark room, and so this is a 15 second picture with the camera resting on the rail to keep people outside in the hall (there was no floor in this room)

I love the mountain areas of West Texas. There are a number of small high dessert ranges which each seem to have their own unique look to them. This area has a rugged beauty to it, yet just about everything there will either bite, stick or sting you. But still, I love it.

One of my favorite books is called Texas Mountains, and it should be checked out if this part of Texas fascinates you like it does me. Plus, the photography is out of this world, and taken by my favorite photographer, Laurence Parent. See if you can find it sometime, or at least borrow my copy of it.

I might have to step away from some Alaska pictures over the next couple of days. We are in the midst of several days in a row of temperatures around 105, and seeing those cooler weather Alaska pictures is torturing me.

Anyway, here are a couple of some of the remains of Fort Davis. I added some darkening in the corners to help tone down that bright sky.

Reflections of Creation

the most important part of this website

I enjoy photography and I always find myself wanting more time to be outside with a camera. The idea of posting my pictures was born out of the love for my wife, Alison (alisonbryantwrites.com), who hates it when I do not take my days off. This website, reflections of creation, is a way to force me to get out of the office from time to time and putting me outside where I love to be. While a creative outlet for me, I hope this is an encouraging site for you, and one which helps point you to the Creator of all this beauty around us. God is so much bigger and amazing than we could ever imagine, and He loves you and me! What an amazing thought! He loves us so much that He was even willing to let His son, Jesus, die as a sacrifice for us. That fact is more beautiful than any picture you will see on this website. I hope you know Jesus, but if you do not, please email me or go to www.needHim.org. Thanks again for coming and stop by again soon.
